Taipei City Government Invites Council Members of International Affairs Advisory Council to Visit Taipei Performing Arts Center

An invitation was extended to council members of International Affairs Advisory Council by Chen Chih-Ming, Secretary-General of Taipei City Government and Commissioner of Secretariat, Tom Chou, Executive Director of International Affairs Advisory Council, and other colleagues in the Taipei City Government to visit Taipei Performing Arts Center on November 16, 2022. Together, they hoped that the council members could witness Taipei City’s progress in transforming into a city of art.

Taipei Performing Arts Center was designed on the basis the culinary tradition of Taiwanese hot pot by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture under the leadership of Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and his business partner David Gianotten.

Council members were accompanied by Secretary-General Chen during their visit to the art center and were informed of the architecture team’s efforts and input into the construction of the center by a tour guide. The S-shaped glass on the center’s exterior offers visitors an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape. On the day of the council members’ visit, they were offered an exclusive tour of the Globe Playhouse, an impressively large theater built to international standards.

This tour is expected to improve the council members’ understanding of Taipei City’s art culture and to encourage their input into the city’s future development, thereby increasing the global visibility and competitiveness of the city. Taipei Performing Arts Center now welcomes all visitors.
