The Taipei City Government warmly welcomed the visiting delegation from the Youth Division of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) today (21). Taipei Mayor Wan-an Chiang personally attended the reception, emphasizing that this exchange is a concrete realization of the close cooperation between Taipei City and the LDP Youth Division. He expressed hope that through such arrangements, the strong relationship between Taiwan and Japan will continue to flourish, fostering greater mutual understanding and collaboration among younger generations.

Mayor Chiang quoted a famous line from the popular Japanese anime One Piece: “We are partners!” which resonated strongly with the audience. He observed that Taipei City has maintained close exchanges with the LDP Youth Division, and that several of its members are good friends of Taipei. The mayor elaborated that during his visit to Tokyo in May of this year, he was warmly received by the LDP Youth Division. At that time, they discussed the potential for increased cooperation following the establishment of the Taipei City Department for Youth on June 1. Today’s events, including discussions between the overseas study delegation and young representatives from Taipei, collaborative efforts between the LDP Youth Division and the Taipei City Department for Youth, and a lecture by LDP Youth Division Director Suzuki Takako, all brought to fruition the shared vision from that earlier meeting.

Mayor Chiang emphasized his hope that future events like this one will bring together young people from Taiwan and Japan, allowing them to deepen their understanding of each other and establish even closer cooperative relationships. He highlighted the unique opportunity of having the LDP Youth Division’s overseas study delegation, Japanese parliamentarians, and young representatives from Taipei engage in discussions, as well as the honor of having Director Takako Suzuki deliver a lecture.

In closing, Mayor Chiang once again expressed his gratitude to the LDP Youth Division delegation for their visit, wishing them a smooth and prosperous journey.
