Nordic Sustainable Energy Forum Takes Place in TaipeiThe 2021 Nordic Sustainable Energy and Environment Forum was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Taipei in the afternoon of November 30.
Director Bo Monsted of the Trade Council of Denmark in Taipei, Representative Mikko Karppinen of the Finland Trade Center in Taiwan, and Representative Bengt G. Carlsson of the Swedish Trade and Investment Council in Taiwan presided over the opening ceremony.
Mayor Ko Wen-je greeted the attendees through a pre-recorded video clip. He shared with the audience Taipei’s core concepts of sustainable development and the results of implementations. He also expressed his gratitude to the representative offices of the Nordic nations for enabling a platform of exchange and communications between the academic communities of Taiwan and northern Europe despite the global prevalence of COVID-19.
This is the second time for Taipei City Government to be invited to co-organize the event. The format of the forum combines both physical and online sessions. The topics of this year’s discussions span from “Green Mobility” to “Water and Air Quality Management.”
At the forum, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Transportation organized presentations including “Taipei City Resource Recycling and Reutilization Project” and “Taipei City Green Transportation Project.” The agencies introduced Taipei’s policies and measures that supports sustainable development to the listeners.
Five Nordic companies also provided briefings on sustainable development solutions, including MaaS Global’s development and application of Mobility as a Service; Danfoss’s electric power and smart control solution for ferries; energy efficiency and air quality solutions for residents and commercial buildings by Camfil; IoT monitoring mechanism for water resources introduced by UROS, and Grundfos’s smart pump system which allows highly efficient use of water.
