Enjoy Pumpkin Baskets, Trick-or-treating at the 13th Tianmu Halloween Festival

Enjoy Pumpkin Baskets, Trick-or-treating at the 13th Tianmu Halloween FestivalThe season of ghosts and goblins is here again! The Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC) is joining hands with the Tianmu Marketplace Development Association to hold the 13th Tianmu Halloween Festival at the Tianmu Sports Park starting October 29.

Kicking-off with a trick-or-treating session, the Halloween Festival this year promises to be a scary and memorable event! On Saturday October 30, the organizers invite Japanese sci-fi heroes including Masked Rider Zero-one, Masked Rider Saber, and Ultraman, as well as characters from the upcoming movie “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” to join the spooky festivities at the event venue.

According to TCOOC, the Tianmu Halloween Festival is a major annual festivity for the Tianmu Commercial District. The event is the fruition of the combined effort of local department stores, businesses, and stores to attract visitors to the neighborhood. Since the inaugural event in 2013 which saw the participation of 80,000 people, the festival has rapidly expanded over the years and developing into a major festival that attracted 270,000 visitors in 2020.

Chairperson Tang of the Tianmu Marketplace Development Association noted that the collaboration among city hall, local enterprises, and district merchants made it possible to give away millions of candies to trick-or-treaters carrying pumpkin-shaped baskets. However, due to COVID restrictions this year, there won’t be a largescale parade for young kids in costumes. Instead, the revelers will leave from the starting point at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tianmu starting at 4 PM in the afternoon of October 29 separately. Over 250 partner businesses in the vicinity will hand out treats to the cute monsters that come knocking on the door.

The pumpkin basket giveaway will take place between October 23 and 29 at the following locations: SOGO Tianmu Store, Shin Kong Mitsubishi and Dayeh Takashimaya. A total of 2,700 baskets will be distributed during this period. In addition, another 300 baskets are reserved for the onsite giveaway session at the three aforementioned department stores slated for 1 PM on October 30.
