Dr. Hu Shih’s Graveyard Became an Award-winning Park

The cabinet-level Public Construction Commission announced the Hu Shih Park Renovation Project, led by the Parks & Street Lights Office (PSLO) of Taipei City’s Public Works Department, a winner of the 15th Public Construction Golden Quality Award.
Located on Section 2, Yanjiuyuan Road (in Nangang District, near Academia Sinica), the Hu Shih Park is an extension of Dr. Hu Shih’s 2-hectare burial ground, kindly donated by a local dignitary named Li Fu-ren, PSLO said.
The greatest challenge in this project was transforming a typically gloomy graveyard into a lovely park that encapsulates Dr. Hu’s admirable character and philosophy, with every new addition designed to cut carbon emissions and the entire facility brightened up through integrated engineering.
