Mayor Attends Opening of 2021 Taipei 3C Products and Appliances Expo

Mayor Attends Opening of 2021 Taipei 3C Products and Appliances ExpoMayor Ko Wen-je attended the opening press conference of the 2021 Taipei 3C Products and Appliances Expo at the Taipei World Trade Center on October 29. The event is organized by the Taipei Electrical Commercial Association (TECA).
During his address, the mayor expressed his gratitude to Chairman Liao Chuan-ping for supporting pandemic prevention effort by donating numerous supplies and electronic products. He noted that TECA has proactively organized activities to promote business and stimulate consumption, as well as working with the city government on charity, industry services, and vocational training.
The mayor pointed out that the city government has set the goal of net zero carbon emission by 2050. All affiliated agencies are working on detailed plans to implement this goal. Given that carbon border tax appears inevitable, the city government seeks to cut carbon emission by 30% by 2030 as its first step. One of the obvious approaches is to promote energy-saving home appliances, as well as expanding the electric moped sharing system.
According to the mayor, the theme of this year’s appliance expo is “Smart, Technology, and Energy-saving”. The exhibition is subdivided into 6 categories, including smart technology, Audio Visual, Air Conditioning, Refrigerators and Washing Machine, Kitchen Appliances, and Home Appliances. The event also saw the participation of major international brands such as Hitachi and Panasonic.
In addition, visitors can also use their stimulus vouchers to enjoy further discounts at the booths to procure all the home appliances they need during their visit. He invites not only the residents of Taipei, but also those from other municipalities to come and enjoy the show. However, Ko reminds buyers to make sure they purchase devices that have the energy-saving label to help reduce carbon emission.
