Introducing the 2021 Taipei International Startup Week

Introducing the 2021 Taipei International Startup Week To assist startups in connecting with the international community and to construct an ecosystem for entrepreneurship, the Department of Economic Development (DED) is organizing the 2021 Taipei International Startup Week.

The highlight of the week-long event will be the “Taipei City Highlight Enterprise Award Ceremony,” which is slated for November 17 at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei. The “2021 Food and Beverages Industry Forum” will also take place at POPOP TAIPEI on the same day.

The award ceremony seeks to showcase Taipei’s accomplishments in supporting and backing startups. Since 2014, DED has organized the award to boost the exposure of companies which are high achievers in areas such as “enterprise innovation,” “company competitiveness,” “company market strength,” “company’s overall influence in industry, economy, and society,” and “company’s social responsibility.”

Co-organized by MINGCHU, GIS Group, and foodNEXT, the “2021 Food and Beverages Industry Forum” will focus on the challenges and potential opportunities of the food and beverages industry. With the success of Taiwan’s pandemic control last year, the industry reported an impressive revenue of roughly NT$410 billion in the second half of 2020. However, the spread of COVID-19 in Taiwan in May of 2021 had a severe impact upon the industry, forcing immediate responses and changes in operation methods – from delivery services to frozen food processing. The forum will cover topics such as resource consolidation, processing development, and methodology innovation.
