“Taipei and the World in Dialogue” at 2:00 p.m. on March 6, 2016 (Sunday): Program Introduction

Wellington City councilor Simon Marsh visited Taipei, a partner city of the New Zealand capital, for the upcoming Velo-city Global 2016. He officially invited Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je to Wellington on behalf of Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, and unveiled a municipal plan to celebrate a “Taipei Day” in Wellington. Marsh, a former radio personality, reenacted his famous opening line in the “Global Encounters” segment of the Taipei Broadcasting Station (TBS) show “Taipei and the World in Dialogue” before revealing secrets behind the Oceanian country’s unpretentious people and strikingly immaculate environment, as well as a feasible partnership between Taipei and Wellington, where blockbusters such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Avatar were filmed. Building on his success in broadcasting, Marsh is now a public servant dedicated to a better future for Wellington.
During his visit, Marsh was surprised to find out that a TBS program won the exact same international radio award in 1991 as he had received two years later. That coincidence brought Marsh and the TBS show host closer together.
