July Gardening Seminar – Now Available for Registration!

Participants of a gardening seminar at the centerOrganized by the Department of Economic Development, the schedule for seminars in July at the Taipei City Community Gardening Promotion Center is here! With growing interest in community gardening and in line with the city government’s Gardening City Initiative, the talks on July 5, 11, 18, and 25 will cover various subjects.
Discovering Insects in Gardens (July 5, 2 PM – 3:30 PM)
There are numerous insects residing in the garden, ranging from helpful ones to pests. Each of them has a role to play in the ecosystem. The talk tries to analyze the impact of farmers’ management styles, garden ecosystem, and fruit tastes from the perspectives of these little critters.
Pest Prevention in Gardens (July 11, 2 PM – 3:30 PM)
Are you having headaches over the pests found inside newly purchased bonsais or inside garden plots? Have you lost confidence because you were unable to deal with the insects and watch your plants wilt? Come and listen to experts and learn the basics of pest preventions.
Organic Garden at Home (July 18, 2 PM – 3:30 PM)
Learn how to transform gardens into an eco-friendly plot with simple materials. Growing plants (especially ivy types) with help from the right tools can provide shades to free you from aircon overuse during summer, while organic cultivation enhances your plant’s ability to resist pests. Recycling rain water is also another eco-friendly way to save water bills.
Operation and Strategy for Fruitful Gardens (July 25, 2 PM – 3:30 PM)
Are You interested in the Garden City initiative and looking to become an urban farmer? What should you do? The instructor will share her gardening experience and strategies, providing the students with abundant reference to answer these questions.
