TRTC Organizes "Thank You – Upgraded LED Badge for Expectant Mothers" Campaign

* Sporting blinking LEDs, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation’s (TRTC) "Thank You – Upgraded LED Badge for Expectant Mothers" will be provided to expectant mothers via registration, on a trial basis and in limited quantities.

By simply presenting the Go! Taipei Metro app or smartphone e-ticket from the company's official website in conjunction with the Maternal Health Booklet, expectant mothers can collect the flashing Thank You LED badge from 20 designated stations free of charge. Its purpose is to remind passengers to voluntarily yield their seats to pregnant women, so as to create a caring, comfortable MRT environment.

To create a friendly environment for pregnant passengers on the MRT, the company has coordinated with the Department of Health and Department of Social Welfare to distribute 20,000 "Thank You" flashing LED badges (uses non-replaceable batteries) on a trial basis. Expectant mothers simply have to register their personal details via the Go! Taipei Metro app or the company's official website, select the desired pick-up station, and obtain the QR code; thereafter, go to the information desk at the designated station to collect the badge by presenting your smartphone QR code and Maternal Health Booklet. After the station staff has stamped the station name and date on the inside page of the Maternal Health Booklet, you will be given a Thank You LED badge. Each person is limited to one badge. During the trial run period, feedback and opinions will be collected for future reference, and the Thank You sticker will still be available from all stations for passengers in need.

Besides expectant mothers collecting in person, the Thank You badge can also be collected by their family members or friends by presenting the screenshot of the smartphone e-ticket and the expectant mother's Maternal Health Booklet. Furthermore, the badges are available in limited quantities, so please collect yours at the originally designated station.

The 20 MRT stations for collecting free Thank You LED badges are Taipei Main Station, Zhongshan Station, Shuanglian Station, Minquan W. Rd. Station, Shipai Station, Tamsui Station, Guting Station, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station, Dapinglin Station, Qizhang Station, Touqianzhuang Station, Sanchong Station, Jingan Station, Banqiao Station, Xinpu Station, Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, Taipei City Hall Station, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station, Xihu Station, and Wanfang Hospital Station.

The Thank You LED badge is simple to use: expectant mothers simply have to attach it on a conspicuous location on their bag and press the hidden switch at the center of the badge. There are 3 flashing modes: press once for all 3 LEDs to light up, press twice for the fast flashing mode, and 3 times for the slow flashing mode. In consideration of environmental protection, after the battery is depleted, it can still be worn as a Thank You lapel pin to promote the MRT’s culture of yielding seats to pregnant women.

In an effort to make the MRT environment more accommodating to pregnant passengers, the company has established a "Priority queuing area for expectant mothers" indicated by a distinctive pink sign featuring motifs such as an expectant mother, children, parents pushing a stroller, and others for easy identification by other passengers so they can yield their seat to pregnant passengers. Additionally, a Family Zone has been created inside the trains operating on Tamsui-Xinyi Line, and Songshan-Xindian Line, featuring playful family motifs and priority seat posters to create a pleasant ambiance inside the trains. Moreover, TRTC will continue promoting priority queuing for expectant mothers on the TVs, electronic signs, and public announcements at the station platform, while our station staff will approach pregnant passengers to provide assistance and lead them to the priority queuing area so that they can board at the front of the queue.
