Disaster Prevention - Let's Get Ready 2024 119 Firefighter Festival and Disaster Prevention Even

Taipei City Fire Department will hold the "2024 119 Firefighter Festival and Disaster Prevention Event" at the Xiangti Avenue Plaza, Xinyi District, Taipei City, from 13:30 to 16:30 on January 20th. The event venue features a variety of promotional booths, integrating interactive experiences related to different disaster scenarios. Citizens are welcome to participate in the activities.


The event features disaster prevention information booths, stage performances, and various firefighting experience zones. Participants can experience the physical training routines of firefighters and have the opportunity to ride in a firefighting vehicle. Additionally, there is also GO BAG silk printing DIY on site. Fire prevention graphics and texts are printed on GO BAG to remind us of fire and disaster prevention matters. Vice Mayor Li Sichuan came to the scene to show support to the selfless firefighters. He thanked the firefighters for their hard work, and also thanked them for sparing no effort in carrying out fire prevention, disaster rescue and emergency medical services, guarding Taipei City 24/7.


The scale and complexity of disasters have increased in recent years according to Taipei City Fire Department. The city government has kept strengthening the self-disaster prevention and rescue momentum of the community, and ten of which including Zhong Shun Vil, Jin Hua Vil, Guang Neng Vil, Jiu Zhuang Vil,Bao De Vil, Le Kang Vil, Song Guang Vil, San Min Vil, Quan Yuan Vil, and Jiang Shan Vil have been awarded the Two-Star Resilient Community Certification by the Ministry of the Interior. Taipei City Fire Department also hopes that more communities join in, enabling them to swiftly respond to disasters and reduce the impact and losses. "Resilient City" is expected to become the representative term of Taipei City.


Moreover, in collaboration with the cartoon "Robocar Poli", Taipei City Fire Department promotes accurate fire prevention knowledge. At the event, they also introduces an easy-to-read booklet titled "What to Do When a Fire Breaks Out (An Evacuation and Escape Guide)" in order to quickly convey disaster prevention knowledge to special-needs groups such as pregnant women, children, elderly citizens, and those with physical or mental disabilities. The aim is to raise awareness and garner support for disaster prevention from various sectors.
