New volunteer firefighters should meet the following requirements:

1.They must be Taiwanese citizens aged at least 18 years or foreign residents or residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau with a residence permit.

2.They must be local residents who are not part of another volunteer or civil defense organization.

3.They must be Taiwanese citizens who have not been sentenced to a term of imprisonment or more over the past 10 years or must be foreign residents or residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau who have not been sentenced to a term of imprisonment or more during their stay in Taiwan. This requirement does not apply to Taiwanese citizens who have committed a crime due to negligence or have been sentenced to probation.

The restriction in Item 2 does not apply to those serving as consultants.

Retired substitute military firefighters who meet these requirements shall be prioritized for selection as volunteer firefighters.
