Date Major Events January 21, 2013 Deputy Governor Ray Tenorio of Guam, a sister city of Taipei, leads a delegation to visit Taipei and calls on Deputy Mayor Chen Wei-zen. January 29, 2013 The 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade Organizing Committee is established. February 12, 2013 Taipei City Government Deputy Secretary-General, Wu Kuo-ann, visits Kazan City, Russia to take part in venue inspections and attend preparatory meetings held by the Kazan Summer Universiade Organizing Committee. The trip ends on February 18. February 26, 2013 Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Hsiung-wen visits Cape Town, South Africa, to attend the Taipei International Design Show organized by Design Indaba. The event lasts until March 4. March 05, 2013 Taipei Deputy Mayor Ting Tin-yu visits Brussels, Belgium to attend a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation. The event ends on March 11. April 02, 2013 Taipei Deputy Mayor Chang Chin-oh is sworn in. April 30, 2013 Mayor Arnaldo Samaniego Gonzalez of the Republic of Paraguay’s capital city, Asuncion, a sister city of Taipei, and his wife lead a delegation to visit Taiwan on invitation and also call on Mayor Hau Lung-bin. June 11, 2013 Mayor Alexandr Mikhailovich Golkov of the Russian City of Ulan-Ude, a sister city of Taipei, leads a delegation to observe the Taipei International Dragon Boat Races and also calls on Mayor Hau Lung-bin. July 02, 2013 Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin leads a delegation to attend the 2013 Taipei-Shanghai City Forum and the Taipei City Business Opportunity Forum in Shanghai, before continuing his journey to observe the 2013 Kazan Summer Universiade in Russia and also promote the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade and Marketing Taipei. July 08, 2013 Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin leads a delegation to observe the 27th Kazan Summer Universiade in Russia and hosts a “Taipei Evening” there. More than 400 guests attend, including all the members of the FISU Executive Committee. August 03, 2013 Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin visits Japan to attend two press conferences, one on direct chartered flights between Taipei Songshan Airport and Matsuyama Airport in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture,and the other for Matsuyama City’s presentation of a Dogo Onsen Hot Spring mechanical blessing clock to Taipei. The trip ends on August 6. August 12, 2013 Taipei City Government Secretary-General Chen Yeong-ren leads the Taipei Delegation to the 2013 International Children’s Games to compete in the categories of track and field, swimming, gymnastics, and tennis in Windsor, Canada. The Taipei Delegation wins6 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. The event ends on August 21. September 13, 2013 Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin invites the delegates attending the Asia Pacific Cities Summit to try out YouBikes and the Taipei MRT. October 23, 2013 Taipei Deputy Mayor Ting Tin-yu visits Wuhan City, Hubei Province, Mainland China to attend the 10th Hubei Wuhan Taiwan Week. He then continues his journey to Beijing to attend a cross-strait economic and trade conference. The trip ends on October 27. October 23, 2013 Taipei City Government Deputy Secretary-General Wu Kuo-ann visits Gwangju City, Republic of Korea to attend the 2013 Kazan Summer Universiade Review Meeting. The event lasts till October 26. November 03, 2013 Taipei Deputy Mayor Ting Tin-yu visits Seoul, Republic of Korea to attend the CITYNET Seoul Congress 2013. The event ends on November 6. November 23, 2013 President Ma Ying-jeou and Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin jointly launch the inaugural ceremony for the MRT Xinyi Line.
