Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-Je and Senator Olivier Cadic Communicated via Online Meeting

A team from the Taipei City Government headed by Mayor Ko Wen-Je attended an online meeting with Olivier Cadic, the vice president of French Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces; Alexandre Levy and Thomas Chaumont, the chairman and executive director, respectively, of Lycée International Français de Taipei (LIFT); and representatives from the Bureau Français de Taipei. Affairs regarding French education in Taiwan were discussed.

Senator Cadic thanked Mayor Ko and the Taipei City Government for the assistance and support provided to LIFT. He also recognized bilingual education as a trend of the future and promised to continue promoting related programs.

Chairman Levy and Executive Director Chaumont also expressed their gratitude to Mayor Ko and the Taipei City Government, and the Department of Education in particular. They emphasized that, as a nonprofit educational institution, LIFT strives to provide trilingual (French, Chinese, and English) education while maintaining tuition levels affordable to most families and that the school will open its doors to all Taiwanese students.

Executive Director Chaumont noted that, because Taiwan and France share common values, the establishment of LIFT has encouraged many French businesspersons to settle and work in Taiwan. Furthermore, the school has made contributions to the coordination of the public and private sectors. He stated that he looks forward to continued cooperation between Taiwan and France.
