Deputy speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Vojtěch Pikal led a delegation to visit Taipei City Deputy Mayor Teng Chia-ji

Deputy speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Mr. Radek Vondráček, Representative of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office, Mr. Patrick Rumlar, and other members of the delegation visited the Taipei City Government on the morning of November 29 and were received by Deputy Mayor Teng Chia-ji. Teng first extended a warm welcome to the delegation and then invited Michálek to attend the 2019 Smart City Mayors’ Summit, which is scheduled to be hosted by the Taipei City Government from March 26 to March 29. Pikal expressed keen interest in Teng’s invitation. He stated that he and the Mayor of Prague, Mr. Zdenek Hrib, were both members of the Czech Pirate Party. Because Prague is now actively implementing urban development and traffic construction projects, he expressed a hope to initiate concrete exchanges between Prague and Taipei concerning those areas. Pikal invited Teng to visit the Czech Republic and suggested that Taipei government officials could also have more interactions with the leaders of the second largest city in the Czech Republic, Brno, in the future. In addition, Pikal asked questions about i-voting and participatory budgeting policies as well as high housing prices and other housing issues in Taipei. Taipei City Government staff members from the Department of Civil Affairs, the Department of Information Technology, and the Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission answered those questions and exchanged opinions with the delegation.
