New Representative of Netherlands Office Taipei Guido Tielman Visited Mayor Ko
On September 7, 2020, Guido Tielman, the new representative of Netherlands Office Taipei, visited Mayor Ko Wen-je along with Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Affairs, Chen Hsiang-yin, and Press and Cultural Affairs Officer, Su Li. They were received by Commissioner of Mayor’s Office for External Affairs, Tom Chou, Commissioner of the Health Department, Shier-Chieg Huang, Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development, Chung-Chieh Lin, Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Tsong-hsiung Tsai, Chief Executive Officer of the International Affairs Advisory Council, Gordon Yang, and Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, Chau-chou Chen on behalf of the Taipei City government.
 
Representative Tielman believed that collaborating with the Taipei City government is a major step in promoting the exchange between Taipei City and the Netherlands. Collaboration on circular economy, smart city, sustainable development, and animal exchange will continue. Representative Tielman was also invited as a speaker in the 2020 Taipei Climate Action International Forum, hosted by the Department of Environmental Protection of the Taipei City government on September 15. In addition, Taipei Performing Arts Center, designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in the Netherlands, is expected to be completed. Representative Tielman expects to invite artists from the Netherlands to perform in Taipei, with the sites provided by the Taipei City government.
 
Mayor Ko said that Taipei City has been in good relationship and exchanged closely with the Netherlands and that Taipei City government is pleased to provide assistance to Netherlands Office Taipei in hosting events that promote said relationship. More government employees from the Taipei City government will be arranged to study in the Netherlands in the future. Before the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taipei City government will continue to host video conferences with the governments of Eindhoven and other cities in the Netherlands to continue promoting the exchange between Taipei City and the Netherlands.
