The Representative of the Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office, Mr. Donato Scioscioli, visited the Taipei City Government on December 17 and was received by Deputy Mayor Teng Chia-ji. He encouraged Scioscioli to return to Taipei for a visit in the future and also expressed the hope that, after returning to Italy, Scioscioli could help invite heads of central government agencies or local governments to attend the 2019 Smart City Mayors’ Summit, which will be hosted by the Taipei City Government in March. Scioscioli told Teng that he was scheduled to return to Italy on December 22 and then assume a position as the Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassy of Italy in Ireland. He stated that He and his families like Taipei a lot; he would suggest to the new representative that they invite the Taipei City Government to participate in the 2020 Milan Fashion Week. Scioscioli also recommended that the Taipei City Government engage in more exchanges with Italy with respect to food and culture and stated that The Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office would be pleased to facilitate communication between Taipei’s government and Italian companies and governmental agencies in the interest of promoting cooperation between Taipei and the public and private sectors of Italy.
