March 1, 2011	Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin led a delegation to Washington D.C. for the Sister Cities International (SCI); he also flew to Managua, capital of Nicaragua, and Panama City, capital of Panama on official business, which ended on March 13.
March 28, 2011	Taipei City and George Town in Penang, Malaysia signed an MOU to establish a friendship city relationship.
May 28, 2011	Taipei Secretary-General Chen Yeong-ren visited Shanghai to attend the contract signing ceremony and the press conference for the exhibition of “Moving ‘Along the River during the Qingming Festival’” in Taiwan. The visit lasted until May 29.
June 2, 2011	Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Wei-Zen visited Venice, Italy for the opening of the Taiwan Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia): “The Heard and the Unheard – Social Soundscape Taiwan.” The Biennale was attended by over 60,000 visitors. It ended on November 27.
June 11, 2011	Taipei Deputy Mayor Allen Chiu was invited to Xiamen, China, for “the Third Straits Forum.” The Forum concluded on June 12.
July 24, 2011	Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin led a delegation to Shanghai, China, for “the Shanghai-Taipei City Forum.” The two mayors signed an MOU to heighten exchange activities on tourism, education and health. The visit wrapped up on July 27.
July 29, 2011	The Taipei City Government revised the “Ordinance Governing the Organization and Self-Governance of the Taipei City Government” and its organization chart. One Deputy Mayor and one Deputy Secretary-General were added to the organization. The Department of Land of the Taipei City Government, the Department of Compulsory Military Service of the Taipei City Government, and the Indigenous Peoples Commission underwent reorganization for their year-end inauguration.
July 31, 2011	The reorganization of the Secretariat of the Taipei City Government went into effect: the Spokesperson’s Office was renamed the Media Affairs Division of the Secretariat; the Taipei City Disaster Prevention Center was rechristened the Fire Department of the Taipei City Government.
August 11, 2011	Taipei Secretary-General Chen Yeong-ren led a delegation to Shenzhen to inspect the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen. The tour ended on August 16.
August 31, 2011	Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin participated in an investor sign-up event in Japan hosted by the Council for Economic Planning and Development under the Executive Yuan; he also visited Osaka Prefecture Governor Toru Hashimoto. The visit ended on September 1.
September 1, 2011	“Regulations Governing Taipei City Hall Curfew and Control” went into effect. In addition to placing security officers on patrol around the clock, the new security measure also included security ID scanners in elevators to strengthen monitoring and control.
September 28, 2011	Taipei Deputy Mayor Tim T.Y. Ting traveled to Brussels, Belgium, to present the application dossier to the International University Sports Federation. The visit ended on October 2.
October 9, 2011	Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Wei-Zen was present in Seoul, Korea, for the 10th Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) Congress. The Congress ended on October 12.
November 29, 2011	Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin arrived in Brussels, Belgium, to present a briefing to event organizer, the International University Sports Federation (FISU). FISU then officially announced that Taipei had been chosen to host the 2017 Summer Universiade.
