During his meeting with Mayor Martinez, Mayor Chiang noted that although the two cities are geographically distant, they share many common values in urban governance. Mayor Martinez’s dedication to childcare, women’s protection, and family-friendly policies closely aligns with Taipei City’s initiatives in parenting support and child healthcare subsidies. Mayor Chiang also praised Mayor Martinez’s excellent presentation at the Taipei International Cities Forum and looked forward to the concrete future cooperation in social welfare policies, culture, and sustainable development between the two cities. Regarding the visit from the Organizing Committee of the World Masters Games 2027 Kansai , Mayor Chiang extended a sincere welcome and thanked the governors of Kyoto Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Tottori Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, and Shiga Prefecture for their support of World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City. He emphasized that this year’s World Masters Games are the first to be held in Asia and have drawn more than 25,000 athletes from around the world. He believes these games embody the spirit of “sports beyond age, life without limits.” Mayor Chiang himself participated in the squash and softball competitions, underscoring the city’s commitment to sport exchanges. With Kansai scheduled to host the next World Masters Games in 2027, the exchanges and city visits will lay a solid foundation for future cooperation in sport promotion, tourism marketing, volunteer training, and sustainable strategies. Mayor Chiang concluded by stating that through this meeting and related exchanges, Taipei City will continue to expand its cooperation with its international sister cities in the areas of education, culture, sports, and urban governance. The aim is to create a more diverse, friendly, and globally connected living environment for all citizens.
